#(almost)wordlesswednesday: Disney Weenies

It’s #(almost)wordlesswednesday, that means linking up with Focused on the Magic to share my #DisneySide through pictures and a few words, since nothing for me is ever wordless with me!

This week we are focusing in on Disney Weenies and the first image that came to my mind was this guy (aka #monsterchild)…

I am really hoping that he will grow out of this, but in all honesty that is not what a Disney Weenie is.

A Weenie is what Walt Disney and his Imagineers called the iconic structures or focal points in each of the Disney parks and lands. They are big enough to be seen from a distance and interesting enough to draw you closer for a better look.

Here is a look at some of at my favorite Disney Weenies from each park…

Tower of Terror in Disney Hollywood Studios

It is really not the Weenie that makes this my favorite in Disney Hollywood Studios but what is inside these walls….

Everest in Animal Kingdom

This is probably one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken.  I really can’t say that I get much credit other than capturing the beauty of a December rope drop morning in Animal Kingdom.

Italy Pavilion in Epcot

Each time I visit Epcot’s Italy I am reminded of the experience of actually being in St. Mark’s Square in Venice and all the wonderful memories of our trip to Italy.

Tangled Tower in Magic Kingdom

One of my favorite Disney movies and certainly the most beautiful theme park bathroom areas.

What are some of your favorite Disney Weenies?  Make sure you check out my Instagram (Mylifeinears) and my Facebook Travel page to see my favorites from Walt Disney World.

#(almost)wordlesswednesday: Looking Back

It’s #(almost)wordlesswednesday, that means linking up with Focused on the Magic to share my #DisneySide through pictures and a few words, since nothing for me is ever wordless with me!2017

It seems fitting with 2018 right around the corner, that the theme for this week is “Looking Back.”

I have to say that 2017 was a great Disney year for me!  I was able to go “Coast to Coast”…

Visiting the Happiest Place on Earth with my “boys” this past spring on an epic CARS themed road trip!  We had so much fun stopping at all the real life locations that inspired the movie CARS as well as seeing the movie come to life before our eyes in CARSland, part of Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort.

and going back “home” to the most Magical Place on Earth on my first solo “working” vacation in November. I loved all of the new adventures that I sought out and challenged myself to experience.

So as the calendar page turns to 2018, I can’t wait to see what it will bring.

Do you have any 2017 Disney memories to share?  Please drop them in the comments!  I love hearing from you!

#(almost)wordlesswednesday: The Shirt Says it All

It’s Wednesday again, so that means #(almost)wordlesswednesday and joining Focused on the Magic’s Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop where we get to share our Disney vacation photos.  This week we are sharing our Disney Style in Tees…

I love wearing a Disney themed t-shirt each day during my trips (although Mr. Grumpy and the family are not always fans).

To me t-shirts tell a story and make a general statement about what my park plans are for the day. See if you can figure out my plan for the day based on some of my shirts…

Looking for some great shirts for you next vacation, check out Etsy!

#(almost)WordlessWednesday: T-H-A-N-K-S

It’s Wednesday so that means linking up with Focused on the Magic to share some of our #disneyside vacation photos on the Wordless Wednesday blog hop…which makes me so excited since I have a whole new album to share!

The theme this week is Thanks + Giving and is loosely based on a word game  where someone picks a word that’s related to Thanksgiving. Then, going around the table each person says what they are thankful for using the letters in the word chosen.

Looking at my pictures,  I decided to share from a new experience that I encountered in the Magic Kingdom…the Festival of Fantasy Parade.  I had never had the opportunity to see this parade and during this past trip I made it a priority to view and I am so THANKFUL I did.  It is simply BEAUTIFUL!

So, here’s my Disney spin on the game in pictures from the Festival of Fantasy parade…

#(almost)wordlesswednesday: Eat to the Beat Concert Series

It’s #(almost)wordlesswednesday, that means linking up with Focused on the Magic to share my #DisneySide through pictures and a few words, since nothing for me is ever wordless with me…

This week’s theme is “Eat to the Beat,” yet another great event happening in Epcot this fall in conjunction with the International Food & Wine Festival.  A few years ago I was fortunate to see one of my all time favorite duos..

My Favorite Things - Page 045 (1)

and let me tell you I was “Lost in Love” even after 25 years of not seeing them live in concert. I was NOT “All out of Love” for their ballads that still continue to make me feel like I am “Every Woman in the World” to Graham and Russell.  Air Supply made “Even the Nights (Are) Better” in Epcot. And though they did not “Dance with Me,” they still made me think I was “The One That (You) They Loved” and that we would be “Making Love Out of Nothing at All.”

All BAD puns aside Air Supply was just as AWESOME to my 40 something self as they were when I was 20 sharing the concert with my Alpha Xi Delta sorority sisters.  I even did a couple of facetime calls with a few of sisters and we relieved a special memory together.  Disney sure knows how to stir the emotions and memories.

The Eat to the Beat Concert Series lineup appeals to a wide range of tastes with 32 groups hitting the America Gardens Theater Stage in front of the American Pavilion for 3 concerts (5:15 pm, 6:30 pm, and 7:45 pm) each evening. For a complete listing of concerts as well as information check out

Eat the Beat Concert Series

This year I am going to get to see Boyz II Men and I can guarantee it will be “One Sweet Day” even if it will be the “End of the Road” for the 2017 Epcot Food & Wine Festival.

#(almost)wordlesswednesday: Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival

It’s #(almost)wordlesswednesday, that means linking up with Focused on the Magic to share my #DisneySide through pictures and a few words, since nothing for me is ever wordless with me…

This week’s theme is “ Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival,” which happens to be a favorite topic of mine and one I often daydream about.

My Favorite Things - Page 039

In fact, I have been pouring over the marketplace menu’s for this years festival making my list of what I am going to eat and drink.  For the 2017 festival there will be a record number of marketplace booths, 35 to be exact as well as a record number of days!  That is a whole lot of eating, drinking and fun!

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2017

Let’s take a look back at my selections in 2013

I am still working on last year’s pictures…hopefully I will get them up this weekend.

This year I am not letting anything stand in my way of visiting ALL 35 booths and having at least one sip and sample.  For a complete listing  of all the Marketplace Booths with menus & pictures visit…

The 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival will be here soon! Mark your calendars for August 31-November 13, 2017, as the event runs for an unprecedented 75 days this year!

#(almost)wordlesswednesday: Celebration

It’s Wednesday, so that means I am linking up with  Focused on the Magic  to share my #DisneySide through pictures with #(almost)wordlesswednesday, since nothing for me is ever wordless with me. This week’s theme is “Celebration”…

My Favorite Things - Page 061

It started as simply justification for a girl’s trip to Walt Disney World, but turned into one of my greatest personal challenges and CELEBRATIONS because in 9 months I went from the couch to completing runDisney’s Tower of Terror 10-Miler and discovered that I like this running thing!

There is no better way to challenge yourself and then celebrate your success than to do both during a runDisney race weekend at either Walt Disney World or Disneyland. What are you waiting for there is a celebration at the end of the race that leads directly to your favorite attraction. If I can do it (and go on to 2 more and soon to be 3 more runDisney race weekends), so can you!

#(almost)WordlessWednesday: Nostalgia

It’s Wednesday, so that means time together with Focused on the Magic to blog hop, link up and share our #DisneySide through pictures with #(almost)WordlessWednesday, since nothing for me is ever wordless with me.

This week’s theme is “Nostalgia”, a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.  Being a child of the 70s my biggest Walt Disney World or Disneyland association that reflects nostalgia stems from watching the opening of The Wonderful World of Disney.  I remember vividly the scenes of in that opening segment…

YouTube:  Wonderful World of Disney Opening

The one scene I remember the most is that of the Jungle Cruise and on my first visit to Walt Disney World it was one of the attractions I knew I had to visit.

Since then, my own children have discovered the Jungle Cruise and it is one of their favorite rides, for the jokes and they spend hours afterwards reciting jokes they heard and laughing hysterically with each other.  I was totally blown away by their recall after 1 ride.

The Jungle Cruise is always on the top of our lists to visit each time! What Disney attraction brings up nostalgia for you?  Please share in the comments and tell your own story!

#(almost)Wordless Wednesday: My Favorite View

#(almost)WordlessWednesday is going to be a day early as we are off for a mini vacation back East for the next week. This week’s topic from Focused on the Magic is “My Favorite View.”  Looking through my pictures my favorite view is necessarily a specific location but is a thing…

fb2523edab766a0d944adb76df1f53c6--hipster-blog-disney-hipster

FIREWORKS! Even better if the fireworks have the castle in view or enjoyed with a dessert or a glass of bubbly wine!

After all when you see Disney fireworks, you know that Wishes do come true!

#(almost) Wordless Wednesday: Adventure

It is Wednesday, so it is time to let the pictures doing the talking on the blog hop sponsored by Focused on the Magic…but those that know me, I do nothing wordless.  This week’s theme is “Adventure”…

Who says Disney is just for princesses?  One of my favorite character interactions was with my oldest son, Boo and Captain Jack Sparrow.  Boo was selected to play the leading roll in Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial and went sword to sword with the feisty captain himself…

Apparently the captain was not too found of the “Gig Em” hat Boo was wearing, as he was more of the “Hook Em” type of pirates…

I think Gig Em won this sword fight as Boo took the dual about as serious as Captain Jack takes his rum.
